“Sound of Conch Shells” (海螺声声, Hǎiluó Shēngshēng) is the twenty-fifth episode of Smart Dodging.

There’s a hypnosis conch that attracts argalis and helps them sleep. Wolffy learns that Jonie is using one and tries to use a bunch of hermit crabs’ shells to lure her to the fortress—but this just pisses off a huge swarm of hermit crabs and brings in way too many hypnotized argalis for him to handle.

Summary[]

Wolnie dreams about Wolffy making mutton for her while Wolffy dreams about catching a goat. But then Wolnie bites Wolffy’s finger in her sleep, waking him up. He hears a vaguely musical sound from outside and looks out with his binoculars.

The sound is coming from the Goats’ Village and wakes up several goats, who follow it to Jonie’s house. Slowy explains that the argalis sent her a conch to help with her insomnia. Wolffy somehow hears this conversation and gets an idea.

The next day Wolffy shows up to the iron gate, and the goats prepare to defend. But all Wolffy does is being a bunch of sea shells. He plans to blow on each one until one makes a sound and attracts Jonie outside. But none of them work, and then a huge swarm of hermit crabs charged in to beat Wolffy up for stealing their homes. All the goats laugh, but Weslie figures out Wolffy’s plan with the shells.

Weslie tells Jonie Wolffy’s plan, and he, Paddi and Sparky go to the hermit crabs’ beach to grab all the conches that might make the hypnotic sound—despite Jonie’s warning that hermit crabs hate being interrupted. Jonie ends up being right, as most of the hermit crabs chase Weslie, Paddi and Sparky everywhere. Right after, Wolffy shows up to the beach and finds a few hermit crabs still in their shells. He plucks them out (to their dismay) and collects the shells, then leaves.

The goats get chased all the way back and notice Wolffy’s prints. Weslie tells the crabs to stop chasing them and says Wolffy is the one taking their shells, and they should see for themselves in the fortress instead.

That night, Wolffy tries and fails to blow through the shells while Weslie, Paddi and Sparky spy on him. He hasn’t figured out that he needs to poke a hole in the end first, but Weslie says that it’s safer to break the shells themselves just in case.

After Wolffy falls asleep, they creep into the fortress but can’t break any shells. Wolffy wakes up, notices the goats, and triggers some huge traps, which fail to catch the goats but do crush a shell. The goats dodge more traps while throwing more shells into them. All the shells get crushed, ostensibly saving Jonie, but then Wolnie shows up and knocks the boys out with some pans.

While the boys are in the pot, Wolffy picks up a mostly intact shell that only has a hole in its tip. Just for the sake of it, he blows through it—and it works.

Wolffy is super happy and blows it through a microphone, spreading the sound across the entire grassland. This finally causes Jonie to sleepwalk to the fortress. But as Wolffy and Wolnie celebrate, the swarm of hermit crabs shows up to protest Wolffy taking their homes.

Wolffy and Wolnie run while the crabs chase. But then from in front of them, a huge swarm of hypnotized, sleeping argalis come charging towards them. Totally trapped between two stampedes, they get sent flying as the boys carry a sleeping Jonie away from the fortress.
