The Qilin Cauldron (麒麟鼎, Qílíndǐng) is an item that appears in Martial World Rescue. It is a large vessel capable of significantly enhancing Qili. There is currently no definitive record of its creator or the era in which it was made[note 1].

There are two types of Qilin Cauldrons in the main storyline. The first is the “Fake Qilin Cauldron,” which was forged by the Duanzao Sect under duress by Siying. It is essentially an imitation of the Qilin Cauldron and has already been destroyed. This cauldron was previously held by Aotian, and its fragments were later given to Yishe, Erxiang, Sanma, and Siying to enhance their strength. These fragments were also eventually destroyed. The second type is the “True Qilin Cauldron,” which has been held by Lingxu Laoren, the Martial Alliance, Weslie, Beiming, and Jinkuai. This cauldron has also been destroyed.

According to Slowy, there may be some connection between the Qilin Cauldron and the Sword of Light.

Abilities[]

The Qilin Cauldron can significantly enhance the Qili of its possessor. The possessor can also activate the power of the Qilin Cauldron, entering a special non-human state known as “alienation”. This allows the possessor to greatly increase their strength, placing them among the top-tier powerhouses in the world. However, obtaining such power comes at a cost. The possessor’s lifespan will be significantly shortened. Additionally, each time the possessor enters the alienated state, their body will become increasingly weaker, further accelerating the reduction of their lifespan.

The Qilin Cauldron can merge with its possessor’s body. (To separate the merged cauldron from the body, a process known as “Cauldron Separation,” one can use the Separation Zhenfa from the Zhenfa Sect, the Duanshui Chant from the Duanshui Sect, or inflict severe damage on the person separating or being separated from the cauldron[note 2].)

Although the Fake Qilin Cauldron and the True Qilin Cauldron look identical, the Fake Qilin Cauldron provides only a limited enhancement to Qili. In contrast, the True Qilin Cauldron offers a far greater enhancement, with the difference being like night and day.

The True Qilin Cauldron is as solid as rock, with remarkable hardness that makes it impossible to destroy through conventional means (while the Fake Qilin Cauldron is fragile and easily destroyed).

Both the Fake and True Qilin Cauldrons possess the ability to self-destruct. However, the range of their self-destruction differs. The Fake Qilin Cauldron seems only capable of destroying the entire Duanshui Sect[note 3], while the True Qilin Cauldron’s self-destruction is powerful enough to destroy the entire Lingxi Kingdom.

Appearance[]

Both the Fake Qilin Cauldron and the True Qilin Cauldron are ancient and solemn bronze cauldrons. The cauldron’s body is round, with a greenish hue and a heavy texture, exuding an ancient aura. The front of the cauldron is adorned with intricate golden beast-face patterns, with strong and smooth lines and clear, vivid designs. Notably, the center of the golden beast-face pattern on the cauldron’s body is inlaid with a light blue diamond-shaped gemstone that glitters in the sunlight, adding a mysterious and luxurious touch. On either side of the cauldron, there are curved upright handles[note 4], carved with delicate spiral patterns. The handles are also fitted with two freely movable golden rings, connected to the handles by a clasp-like structure. The bottom of the cauldron is supported by three sturdy golden legs, which are both functional and aesthetically pleasing, giving the entire cauldron a stable and elegant appearance.

Related Plot[]

At an unknown time, the Dark Force ordered Jinkuai to use the Qilin Cauldron to bring chaos to the Lingxi Kingdom, aiding the Dark Force in completing its grand plan. After obtaining the Qilin Cauldron from the Dark Force, Jinkuai infiltrated the Lingxi Kingdom and spread the legend that whoever possesses the Qilin Cauldron will rule the world.

Decades ago, the Qilin Cauldron appeared. Due to its ability to significantly enhance Qili, many powerful figures in the Lingxi Kingdom sought to obtain it at any cost.

Decades ago, Beiming, Hanguang, and Feng Liuniang were unexpectedly drawn into a conflict over the Qilin Cauldron. During this conflict, Beiming accidentally merged with the Qilin Cauldron. Later, with the help of the Zhenfa Sect Chief and the Duanshui Sect Chief, Lingxu Laoren successfully separated the Qilin Cauldron from Beiming’s body. For the sake of the people, Lingxu Laoren chose to sacrifice himself and attempted to destroy the Qilin Cauldron. However, despite his efforts, the Qilin Cauldron was not completely destroyed. It then disappeared from the world (the exact time when the Martial Alliance obtained the Qilin Cauldron remains unclear).

After the death of Lingxu Laoren, Beiming, following his father’s wishes, tirelessly searched for the Qilin Cauldron, determined to destroy it once found, thereby fulfilling his father’s legacy.

As the grand centennial celebration of the Martial Alliance approached, Jinkuai planned to unveil the long-lost Qilin Cauldron.

In “Clouds Veil the Moon, Injustice Stays Concealed” (episode 2), Weslie is falsely accused of stealing the Qilin Cauldron.

In “The Qilin Appears, Shaking the Heavens and Earth” (episode 9), Weslie activates the power of the Qilin Cauldron within him to battle Beiming.

In “Wanderers Resting at the Night, Rain Echoes Urgently” (episode 11), Feng Liuniang shoots an arrow past Weslie and notices a cauldron mark on his forehead, similar to the one Beiming once had. Feng Liuniang states that the cauldron is within Weslie’s body and that he has only three months to live. Each use of the cauldron drains Weslie’s life, making his body weaker. The only way to save Weslie is through Cauldron Separation. First, they need to find a master from the Zhenfa Sect to perform the separation, but the process will cause severe damage, so they must also seek the Duanshui Chant from the Duanshui Sect. Feng Liuniang also tells the goats and Wolffy one final piece of information, which remains unknown to the audience.

In “Left Behind in This Mortal World, I Bear Snow-White Hair” (episode 16), Weslie once again activates the cauldron’s power to battle Hanguang.

In “The Midnight Mystery Turns Out to Be a False Alarm” (episode 27), the waiter at That Inn tells Paddi that decades ago, when the Qilin Cauldron appeared in the world, the peaceful and harmonious environment of the Lingxi Kingdom was completely disrupted. Various sects fought over the cauldron, leading to constant strife and scheming, often leaving innocent people homeless.

In “The Qilin Leaves the Hearts of the Duanshui Sect in Disarray” (episode 46), Aotian of the Duanshui Sect obtains the Fake Qilin Cauldron.

In “A Duel Between Shouyun and Aotian Reveals the Truly Capable One” (episode 47), Beiming destroys the Fake Qilin Cauldron.

In “The Saint’s Sword Radiates a Frosted Glow, Reaching Boundlessly” (episode 51), Weslie once again unleashes the power of the Qilin Cauldron to battle Yishe, Erxiang, Sanma, and Siying.

In “Battle Clouds Gather Over the Beiming Palace” (episode 55), the Qilin Cauldron falls into the hands of Beiming.

In “Heroes Assemble, Righteousness Spaning the Long Rainbow” (episode 57), Jinkuai seizes the Qilin Cauldron and activates its power to battle the goats, Wolffy, Feng Liuniang, Tiemian, Zitong, Yueming, and Shouyun.

In “Drifting Like a Seagull Between Heaven and Earth” (episode 58), Beiming reveals to Weslie that his goal in obtaining the Qilin Cauldron is not to gain its power but to destroy it. He recalls how Lingxu Laoren sacrificed himself to destroy the cauldron and, to protect Feng Liuniang and Hanguang from danger, separated from them and bore the infamy of being a villain.

In “The Young Wanderers” (episode 60), Jinkuai attempts to awaken the power of the Qilin Cauldron within him, intending to self-destruct and destroy the entire Lingxi Kingdom. To prevent Jinkuai from further activating the cauldron’s power, Beiming uses his own Qili to suppress Jinkuai. In the final moments, Feng Liuniang delivers a fatal blow to Jinkuai. With Jinkuai’s death, the resulting explosion also claims Beiming’s life, and the Qilin Cauldron is destroyed in the process. After everything ends, Slowy gathers the goats and Wolffy and mentions that there may be a connection between the Qilin Cauldron and the Sword of Light.

Quotes[]

…Rumors in the martial world say that the Qilin Cauldron is a treasure of Qili. Whoever obtains it can enhance their Qili and become the strongest in the world.
…Because of this cauldron, I was wrongfully imprisoned! Because of this cauldron, I almost lost my life! Because of this cauldron, I was forced to separate from my best friend and couldn’t return home! Because of this cauldron, Sparky fell off a cliff trying to save me! All of this is your fault!…
The Qilin Cauldron may be a treasure of Qili, but it is also a source of chaos! It will cause people to fight over it, leading to bloodshed; obtaining the Qilin Cauldron is not a blessing but the beginning of calamity… The Qilin Cauldron has caused endless strife in the world, and people are blinded by their desires. For the sake of the people and the Lingxi Kingdom! The Qilin Cauldron must no longer exist in this world!
Lingxu Laoren, “Drifting Like a Seagull Between Heaven and Earth” (episode 58)

Notes[]

  1. It is highly likely that it was created by the Dark Force (referred to as the “Master” by Jinkuai, the person behind Jinkuai). However, it is unclear whether it was made long ago or recently and then delivered to Jinkuai, so the exact time of creation cannot be determined. Additionally, the possibility that it was created by someone else cannot be ruled out.
  2. Ordinary people cannot withstand such severe damage and often lose their lives after the separation process, which is akin to sacrificing a life. However, some powerful individuals can endure the damage and survive the separation, such as Beiming.
  3. In the main storyline, the Fake Qilin Cauldron only cracks upon self-destruction and does not destroy the entire Duanshui Sect. This is because Shouyun launched the Fake Qilin Cauldron into the air, and with the help of Yueming and Jonie’s water-based Qili, they contained the explosion, thereby reducing its destructive power.
  4. These may also be beast-shaped handles.
