Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf—Desert Trek: The Adventure of the Lost Totem (喜羊羊与灰太狼之虎虎生威, Xǐ Yángyáng yǔ Huī Tàiláng zhī Hǔhǔ Shēng Wēi), also known as the conjectural English title Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf: The Tiger Prowess, is the second donghua film installment in the Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf franchise, featuring the Tiger from the Chinese zodiac.

Plot[]

The arrival of some aggressive invaders has changed the goat village into a playground. The goats are forced to become the working staff in the playground, including Wolffy’s family. However the machines that fuel the park saps all life from the Green Green Grassland, which is slowly turning it into an inhabitable desert. To save the Green Green Grasslands, Wolffy and Weslie must work together to beat the invaders and save their home.[1]

Trivia[]

  • This movie features a unique Cantonese title hei2 joeng4 joeng2 jyu5 fui1 taai3 long4 zi1 fu2 daam2 joeng4 wai1 (喜羊羊与灰太狼之虎胆羊威), differing from the Mandarin one as its Cantonese dub released in Guangdong and Hong Kong. However, it remains the original title when the Cantonese dub premiered in Macao.
  • This movie uses a version of Creative Power Entertaining’s opening logo that is not used in any of the other Pleasant Goat films. Specifically, its music is different compared to the later movies as well as the film before it.

Cultural references[]

  • There is a scene at one point in the film where Leopold dodges darts thrown by Wolffy in slow-motion, with the darts creating a visible trail of ripples behind them. This is a reference to the famous “bullet time” sequence in The Matrix.
