- The character is essentially a reference to Bao Zheng (包拯), an ancient Chinese official from the Song Dynasty, renowned for his uprightness and dedication to justice, who is sometimes referred to as Bāo Dàren (包大人). The title Dàren (大人) is an honorific for judges, akin to “Your/His Honor” in English. Furthermore, the crescent moon on Big Humphrey’s forehead reflects the classic image of Bao Zheng as commonly portrayed in statues, operas, and dramas. Additionally, his hat features two leaf-like decorations, which not only match the grassland mayoral aesthetic but also closely resemble the zhanjiao futou hats worn by officials in the Song Dynasty.
